Mama looked good and felt good today. This however did not result in a particularly good visit for me, and I think Mama. My experience at the “new place” (I think Mama has bene at the new place long enough that I will no longer enough I will stop referring to it as such) has been that mama is somewhat trapped in an easy chair amongst other residents and our visits have not been one-on-0ne per se. Today our visit was further interrupted by Loretta re-bandaging Mama’s heel, which is looking great by the way, by a visiting volunteer wanting to say goodbye to Mama and by Carol who wanted to know if I would be Santa for them this year, to which I replied, “Yes”.
It seems Mama is easily distracted and thereby confused and she tends to get upset and rough when she is allowed to focus on things other than what I am saying, such as her own thoughts. It may be selfish of me, but I do not care for interruptions when I am visiting Mama. I feel like a jerk for writing that, but fudge it (here comes my least favorite phrase that folks overly use and abuse), it is what it is. I am who I am.
Gosh … I’m mad. Just realized it. Doesn’t pay to come between me and my mother I reckon. 🙂
In the future I will try to get Mama in a wheel chair so I can take her to her room, or outside, weather permitting.
So, appears I will play Santa Claus some time in December. Katherine volunteered to take pictures of the event and stayed after I left to coordinate with Carol. Carol said there would be the residents, of course, as well as family and kids, etc. Ho, ho, ho! 🙂 On Dasher, on Prancer, on … uh … Rudolph! Yes! That’s it. Did I get that right? 🙂
We keep on keeping on running down our dreams here on Blair Meadow.
Hope you are doing well and wake each morning with a smile.
Love
